Before anybody says anything, no, I have no excuse for releasing the next blog almost four months after the last one. I'm just.. a bit forgetful.
So, it's happened. Christmas has come by and gone, and we're back in school yet again. And oh boy, do we have quite a bit to unpack.
Hollow Knight: Silksong. Wow. This game is amazing. I've finally poured enough blood, sweat and tears to get 100%. Hornet is much more nimble and acrobatic than the Knight from the first game, and Pharloom is a much more beautiful kingdom (although nothing beats the City of Tears). The score is phenomenal, every song feels different to the last and fit so well with the vibe. As someone really skilled with Hollow Knight, Silksong felt like a very reasonable step-up in difficulty. For example, take the Last Judge, the pathway into Act 2. It stands strong, serving as a skill check to see if you're good enough for what's beyond. The amount of deaths I had on this boss rivals some of the skill checks in Hollow Knight, for example the second Hornet fight. It feels exactly like a large expansion for Hollow Knight (which is ironic seeing as Silksong was originally a DLC). Overall, the game gets a solid 9.5/10. If it weren't for some VERY annoying runbacks and some parts that just weren't fun, this game could definitely get a perfect 10.
A bit of a shorter one. On February 21st and the 22nd, I will be going to Crewe Winter 2026, in 2x2 and 3x3. I'm hoping to get a PR average in 3x3, and maybe a PR single in 2x2. Wish me luck!
If you read one of my previous blogs (psst, it's here), you would know I got a laptop for Christmas! It has much better specs than my old crappy Chromebook that had at least a gigabyte's worth of spyware installed into it. Trust me, if I could've, I would've already turned it into Linux. Anyways, since I have this new computer, I can do a lot more things, such as code bigger Scratch projects or maybe even make some proper games in actual software (such as HTML5 or Godot). Don't worry, Five Nights as Joe's is still in progress. New info about that soon. Also, hopefully more blogs (Key word: "hopefully")! Expect the worst though. I mean, I have made some "fun box" pages you might've seen, but that's it. I can't really get VS Code to work very well, especially for HTML, so I'll probably just install some sort of compiler. Also, I can finally get mods! I may have just needed to pirate some games.
Why didn't I put this under the Competition section? I dunno. I got a couple new cubes for Christmas. These are the QiYi Void Cube, the Qiyi 2x3x3, the Rubik's Pulse, the Diansheng FTO Neo and the YuXin Litle Magic Master Pyraminx. I've yet to solve the Master Pyraminx. Just give me some time, and I'll probably make a tutorial for it too.
Finally. The part a very specific group of people are probably here for. Moths! And oh my God, these things are just so fluffy! They're small and cute and there are just so many different ones. My favourite is almost definitely the blue tiger moth, the colours on it look so beautiful.
Also, a bit of Choccy lore here. I started liking moths when first getting Hollow Knight's true ending, and realising that the final boss was a moth. After that, moths were just kinda an animal I found cool. That was until I joined a Discord server (I won't give any identifiable details because otherwise if they find out I'll be smited to death - more on that in a second), where in there there was someone whose OC was a moth. That inspired me to make an OC who was also a moth. Specifically, a domesticated silk moth named Lo. After some controversy, I was banned from the server. I believe I can still use Lo, just not the singular piece of art a server member made for me. After a while I went a bit more mothy and changed my Discord display name to "mothkisser79" as a joke to ask some guys on the HK discord server if they would kiss the Radiance (also as a joke). In one of the servers I was in, I was asked if I liked moths, obviously due to my display name. I said yeah and they gave me the invite to a server called "Moth Heaven". (Psst, if you want to join it too, here's the invite.) All the server members were really kind and helped me really enjoy moths. Now I'm even planning to buy a big poodle moth plushie from Squishable! Also before anybody says anything, yes, I know they aren't real.
Anyways, I think that's it for now. Stay tuned and make sure to follow the website for more teasers, blogs and updates!
Choccy out.
